Polylactic acid fibers are widely used in the textile industry, with the following main aspects:
1. Clothing industry
Underwear: Polylactic acid fiber has the characteristics of natural weak acidity, good skin affinity, and non irritating to the skin. It can be used to make underwear, providing a comfortable wearing experience for the wearer, and its antibacterial properties can also maintain the hygiene of underwear
Sports and leisure clothing: This fiber has high strength, light weight, good resilience, moisture wicking, and UV resistance, making it suitable for the production of sports and leisure clothing. It can meet various performance requirements of the body for clothing during exercise, such as keeping the body dry and comfortable during exercise, while also providing some sun protection
Shirts and other outerwear: Polylactic acid fiber fabric has a soft touch, good drape, and excellent wrinkle resistance, which can be used to make various outerwear such as shirts, giving the clothing a good appearance and comfortable wearing
2. Home textile industry
Bedding fabric: It can be interwoven or blended with other fibers to make bedding fabric, which has the advantages of good skin affinity, non irritating to the skin, and non allergenic. It overcomes the shortcomings of polyester/cotton fabrics and has better dimensional stability than all cotton fabrics. It is easy to wash, dry, and maintain
Filler: Hollow polylactic acid short fibers can be used as fillers for quilts, pillows, etc. Their thermal insulation is 1.8 times that of cotton silk, and they are more breathable and less prone to mold, making them more suitable for humid southern regions. They can also be mixed with other fibers to replace existing polyester related fillers
3. Non woven fabric field
Sanitary materials: Polylactic acid fiber is used to make spunlace non-woven fabrics, hot air/hot rolled non-woven fabrics, spunbond, meltblown non-woven fabrics, etc. It has unique advantages in disposable sanitary products such as diapers, diapers, sanitary napkins, etc. Its skin friendly and non irritating properties can provide users with a comfortable and healthy experience
Packaging materials: Degradable polylactic acid non-woven fabric can be used to make packaging bags and other packaging materials, which can effectively reduce "white pollution" and meet environmental protection requirements, especially suitable for product packaging with high environmental protection requirements
4. Medical field
Surgical suture: Polylactic acid fiber has good biocompatibility and absorbency, and can be used as a surgical suture in the medical field. After wound healing, it can be naturally absorbed by the human body without the need for suture removal, reducing patient pain and infection risk
Tissue repair materials: Its biocompatibility allows polylactic acid fibers to be used to make tissue repair materials, such as medical dressings, artificial skin, etc., which help with wound healing and tissue repair
